Tippe Labs is constantly improving the habitat area, both for the wildlife that lives there and for the visitors who walk the trails. There are over 3 miles of trails, and the observant visitor is rewarded by the abundance of birds, mammals, insects, reptiles, flowers, and plants that call the WHRA home. We also maintain and monitor 60 eastern bluebird nest boxes throughout the site. We have had success in fledging bluebirds, tree swallows and even some chickadees through our efforts.
The WHRA has a natural wetland area that is supplied with water from two underground springs. These springs fill the wetlands with water year-round.
Visitors can explore the WHRA on their own or arrange for guided tours. Many schools and groups of all sizes take advantage of the diversity that is so close to both city and county schools. It’s a great place for a family picnic, too. Check out the Field Trips and Tours link for more information. |
